Play Criticisms

Hey sooner, what do you think about the two plays I made? The WR screen is supposed to be situational, but i think it can work well depending on the D they call

I tried to make one as well, i got frustrated with it and gave up on mine. the only way to get that guy stationary is to have him go to the spot you want and then have him wait for the max amount of time.


I never could get mine to work though so i just made it into a wheel route to the slot.

i tried to make one a few seasons ago with no luck. I tried to make a wr reverse this offseason, but it sucks. I did make a few plays that look ok, some others need tweaking.

So all the new plays I have been practicing have been somewhat for not since they all reset to zero practices after the new season started. Oh well.

Sooner, I have a couple of new run plays that work well. The wishbone and power I run plays up the gut work well. Also, I made a qb keeper play out of the empty set that looks good too. Not sure how much you want the qb running, but in the right situation he was picking up at least 8 yards.

sounds good. I watch the QB keeper play. it looked real good. We will get that in a couple times a game. I hate to run it to much and risk getting our QB hurt.


Also guys can you re-name you plays and put a DS and H right before the play name that way during a game I can tell if it is a stock or one we created like i do with mine. the all have S- then the play name. It just makes it easier to sort out when looking through them to get the play called in time.

Ok, renaming the plays is a good idea since our playbook keeps growing.

sooner, what are you missing in that play that osu does? it doesn't seem very effective right now

the only thing I can think of is to have the WR's on the play side run across all the way to the right to take the guys covering them away from the play.

i also messed up and need to have the G crack down on the outside LB when they are in GL formation instead of coming all the way out to lead block and then have the QB be a lead blocker along with the Center.


As long as it can get us 4 yds a carry during this game we will be ok.

i ran those against my D's also. if i recall right he sends all of his guys to stop the inside stuff on both his nickle and GL D's.

even if he does that, i think we have the short passing plays to be able to counter their inside stops right?

yeah, our passing plays should be ok. I made adjustments to them after last season after playing them and then again against Texas making the QB reads a little faster and the routes a little quicker making their cuts.

So, passing game should be right on target as it has all season.

check out my new spread play. it's basically the ace play but to both sides, and the running back will take a delayed route up the middle. an added bonus is that he seems to bump middle blitzers on the way. i practiced it specifically against the mmiddle blitz to see how they'd handle the stuff texas will throw at us. hope it works!

looks good. I will try it out pretty early to see how it does. Looks like it is going to be really ood though from the practices.

i like to run my olb's out into the backfield before i start to have them blitz, and i noticed it's much better to move them and have them chase the ball instead of blitzing. not only do they go straight for a qb, but they'll adjust if it's a toss play or whatever. gets much more consistent pressure

thats a good idea since some of the defensive players let a ball carrier run by them before try to chase

yeah, I do that on my D plays also. I have noticed that if you use the blitz command there is like a one second delay in them starting there blitz vs just having them go where you want them.

I did up a couple of new D plays. Check them out and see if there is anything that may need to be tweeked on them. The GL play is as strait copy off of the Texas GL Blitz and the nickel is just my old nickel run-stopper that I made into a more pass rush aggressive play.

Holy cow !! this trying to figure out a way to stop the GL Cluster Blitz is killing me. Check out the last practice i ran with Spread V vs GL Deadman. That is where i am at to this point with it. The QB actually got off all 10 passes without any of the being batted down or him getting rattled and running around like a chicken with his head cut off. lol he went 6 of 10 but, for only like 45 yards.

I am going to work on it a little more tomorrow and see if i can get the Guards to actually pick up the right guy to slow them down a bit more.

FINALLY !!! I believe I have just cured our texas Cluster blitz blues we have had on the Offensive end the lat couple of years..

tell me what you think about my latest play, GL zone blitz. i actually don't give a blitz command to the linebackers. i make them move just past the inside guards and then chase ball from there. it's also got decent deep play coverage with the two corners in a 2-deep zone, and should have good contain vs toss plays

i'm having a lot of trouble stopping that one toss play nebraska likes to run. take a look at it.they do a great job of sealing off the inside and no matter what i do, the cb doesn't want to pick up the rb

it looks like they are in position they are just taking awful angles to the RB for some reason...

I scouted their game today. I will see if I can get either one of my D's to stop the sweeps as well.

take a look at my practices against the nebraska scheme. They pretty much all got shut down with the exception of their spread digs roll S vs my Nickel Boomer. They did complete a few deep ones against that. all the run plays they have pretty much went for crap and the G dead man pretty much shut down their passing game.

i'm trying to copy this other nickel blitz play i saw. forgot who ran it (maybe cal) but the DT's would flare outwards towards the tackles before going back inside, and the two linebackers would hit the hole right behind them. hopefully i can get it right
